We believe that coffee should taste great no matter where you are. Whether you’re home with a time crunch, entertaining for a crowd, or fixing up your morning brew on the tailgate of a Land Cruiser, we’ve got you covered with step-by-step instructions on brewing drip, french press, pour over, and espresso.
How to Brew the Best Coffee: Drip
Ah, drip coffee, the go-to classic for home. Whether you’re low on time in the mornings and need a quick thermos of brew before running out the door, or you’re hosting a crowd that calls for multiple cups with minimal fuss, this is your method.
Step 1:
Weigh out your coffee, we like a 16:1 ratio (ex: 32oz water, 2oz ground coffee)

Step 2:
Pour water into coffee maker
Add coffee to filter
Step 3:

Step 4:

How to Brew the Best Coffee: French Press
We’re big on the French Press method of coffee brewing while camping, backpacking, or just generally when we’re away from our kitchen. Ben’s used several French Presses in his day, but will always gravitate toward Jetboil’s, it’s reliable, user-friendly, and we can take it absolutely anywhere.
Step 1:
Weigh out your coffee, we like a 16:1 ratio (ex: 32oz water, 2oz ground coffee)
Make sure your coffee is ground medium/course (if you don’t have a grinder, no worries, we can grind it at Gallery)
Step 2:
Add coffee to French Press
Add 200-degree F water
Step 3:
Set time for 1 minute -
Stir -
Set time for 4 minutes -

How to Brew the Best Coffee: Pour Over
If we’ve got some time and want an immersive brew experience resulting in arguably THE best cup of coffee, we’re going with a pour over. You can’t go wrong with a classic Chemex but we gravitate to an even simpler V60 model that is easier to store and take with us on the road.
Step 1:
Weigh out your coffee, we like a 16:1 ratio (ex: 320ml water, 20g ground coffee)
NOTE: ml = g on standard home scale
Make sure your coffee is ground medium/fine (if you don’t have a grinder, no worries, we can grind it at Gallery)
Step 2:
Place V60 and Dope Mug on scale -
Use hot water to rinse paper filter -
Toss the water (we’re not drinking that; we just wanted to prep the filter)
Step 3:
Add coffee to filter (make sure ground are settled for an even ‘coffee bed’) -
Tare your scale (zero out the weight) -
Pour 100g of hot water onto coffee, ensuring that it’s fully saturated -
Wait 30 seconds
Step 4:
Slowly pour 100g of hot water onto coffee (again), making sure the water does not creep above coffee line -
Allow water to drain (but keep an eye on it, we want to catch it before it drains completely) -
Pour 120g of hot water onto coffee (yeah, again), making sure the water does not creep above coffee line -
Let this drain completely
Step 5:

Step 1:
Weigh out your coffee, we like a 2:1 ratio (ex: 38ml water, 19g ground coffee)
NOTE: ml = g on standard home scale
Make sure your coffee is ground fine (if you don’t have a grinder, no worries, we can grind it at Gallery)
Step 2:
Add coffee to portafilter basket and tamp -
Place portafilter into machine and start machine -

Stop shot once you reach 38g of extracted espresso -
Step 3:
